Creating a creative presentation is easier with pe-made PowerPoint templates, but you can still apply neat editing tricks. From quickly modifying the entire template to inserting photo albums, these template tricks will help you creating professional presentation in short time. Here are some recommended tips you can try right now.

  • Modify the PowerPoint Templates Master Slide

This is a standard PowerPoint template trick to create a consistent look throughout your presentation. You can use it to change color palette, font, heading, and logo to your slides without doing it repeatedly on multiple slides. Start from the master slide and edit everything you need to change there. Once you finish, the entire presentation templates will follow the changes you make in the master slide.

To start, go to View in your PowerPoint, and choose Slide Master. You can start changing the elements and make them show up in your presentation. Alternatively, you can download a PowerPoint template and choose it from the Themes on the Slide Master tab.

  • Edit the Pre-made Text Placeholders

Every pre-made template has texts inserted as defaults. You can replace them with your own texts by tapping on the text placeholders when working on presentation. Unless you change the font on the master slide, your replacement texts will still use the default fonts from the PowerPoint template.

When you tap on the text placeholders, you will see a blinking cursor. It means that you can start typing there. If you use the default texts without changing the layouts and fonts, your texts will appear naturally.

  • Break Sentences into Columns

Do you know that you can make multiple text columns on one slide? Regardless of any PowerPoint templates you use, you can create multiple columns of texts on a slide. This way, your slides will not look boring or monotone. Multiple columns are also great to create comparison data or descriptions.

You can go to Home and choose Paragraph > Add or Remove Columns. You will get options between one, two, three columns, and more. Depending on what you choose, you can create multiple text columns on one text book on your slide.

  • Use Photo Albums for Series of Image Slides

PowerPoint templates offer a feature to insert an image into a slide. However, do you know that you can insert an entire album? This is useful when you need to show a sequence of images as a part of the presentation. Inserting the whole album means you do not need to upload images individually.

To do this, go to Insert on the PowerPoint tab, and tap on Photo Album. Go to Insert Picture and choose the folder where you keep all the pictures. The pictures will appear as a list in the preview box. You can change the order of the pictures before choosing the layout. Once you are satisfied, tap Create.

  • Create Links to Move Between Presentations

You can describe more than one PowerPoint presentation by creating links to jump between them seamlessly. To create the link, choose one word on your PowerPoint slide (any templates) and right-click. Tap on Hyperlink and insert the link to the other presentation.

Once the hyperlink is created, you can click on that to move to the other presentation (and vice versa using the same method). Make sure you have both presentations as webpages or linkable documents before you create the hyperlink.

  • Insert and Control Videos

Embedded video files can make your PowerPoint presentation file “heavy”, making it harder to send, save, or load. Luckily, PowerPoint templates have a feature to insert video links. This way, you only need to play the video from the slide, without downloading and embedding the file.

To do this, make sure you already have the video in your device. Go to Insert tab and choose Video from the list of media, before tapping on Video on My PC. Tap on the arrow next to Insert and choose Link to File. Choose the location of your video to access it without embedding the video file.

This method also applies to audio or music files. You only need to choose Audio from the Insert tab instead of Video.

PowerPoint templates make building a professional presentation easier. Make sure you use the other tricks to edit your slides and turn you into the PowerPoint master.
